Did the Anglin Brothers and Frank Morris survive their Alcatraz breakout? For years there has been speculation that the Anglin Brothers are hiding out in Brazil and that they didn’t drown in the San Francisco Bay. The FBI investigated the escape for 17 years, and there has been plenty of circumstantial evidence released as recently as a few years ago. Now new facial recognition software and a new algorithm might have finally solved the decades-old mystery. An old photo reportedly of the Anglin brother in 1975 was run through the software and a 99.7% match was found. A CGI build was placed over the photo and a 3d face build was created. This, along with thousands of other pieces of evidence, has led many to claim that the FBI is wrong and that the Anglin brothers made it to South America safe and sound. Did the bank robbers survive? There are ethical and moral questions surrounding this technology and its use in police forces in the US might not become widespread.
