When recreational skier Ariana Ferwerda and Olympic skier Kylie McKinnon realized their shared frustration about the lack of women’s outdoor athletic apparel, they joined forces to create something that was stylish, functional and affordable. The 30 Under 30 Retail & Ecommerce listers founded Halfdays in 2019 and have since expanded into retail hotspots like Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s and Backcountry.

Ferwerda sat down with Forbes’ Alex York to discuss the brand’s growth—from inception to launch—and how she and her cofounder continue to stand out in the market.
